"If you don't hear from me don't worry - it'll mean I've found a magic therapist who'll prescribe rainbows from the PRESCRIPTION pad of wonders" - message to an old friend
I was trying to reconnect with a classmate from middle school. College was agony, and work was pain.
Memories of that friend reminded me of a kindred spirit. That spirit however, seemed just as, if not more despondent than i was. Misery abounded. One dismal conversation followed another.
One day, instead of trying to impress or interrogate, I Let go. I said whatever came from deep within, the kind of random things you don't say because, after saying it you'd think to yourself 'why would I say that?'.
The last thing I said was the above. After that, I kept thinking about what i said. I was interning at the Studio Art Department at the time, assisting the printmaking studio of my alma mater. It started off with a sketch - a unicorn therapist with me at the couch. Then it became a print, Then a series of prints. My COLLEAGUES gave feedback on the work I was making and the feedback was good. I felt like I was touching on something more true - more of what i was then what i thought I ought to be .
I'm excited to announce the beginning of the MAGIC THErapist © - A Unicorn with a specialty in ego deconstruction and magic. You can Find the Web Comic Here and on Instagram.
Right now, as a web comic it's Catharsis for me. In the future I hope it can become a catharsis for others.
